Welcome to the CDPC
The Combat Diseases of Poverty Consortium (CDPC) is an exciting initiative funded through ‘The Programme of Strategic Co-Operation between Irish Aid and Higher Education and Research Institutes’, in collaboration with the Higher Education Authority (HEA).
The CDPC brings together scientific, academic, NGO and private sector expertise to build educational and research capacities for combating diseases of poverty. It networks researchers across geographical borders and disciplines, in order to foster scientific exchange, opportunities for research collaborations and to ultimately deliver new insights and workable solutions to pressing health concerns.
The main activities of the consortium include:
Providing Short-term training.
Arranging Guest Speaker Series.
Scheduling Secondary School Outreach programs.

The CDPC would like to congratulate the students from St. Mary's Academy, Carlow on their success at the Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition 2012.
We are excited to announce that the Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (YSTE), Tanzania coordinated by the CDPC and sponsored by Pearson Foundation was launched in Tanzania.
Recent Activity
The CDPC in conjuction with NUI Maynooth hosted Pulitizer Prize Winner Laurie Garrett, during the Forum for Global Health being held at NUI Maynooth from 26th September to 4th October.
The Polio Research Committee is now accepting grant applications to support the implementation and evaluation of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) Strategic Plan 2010-2012. Research proposals are invited from independent institutions/investigators, private corporations and GPEI staff (e.g., EPI managers).
BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition 2011: The Combat Diseases of Poverty Consortium would like to congratulate James Doyle, Presentation De La Salle College, Bagnelstown, Co. During the week of 25th April 2011, NUI Maynooth once again held festivities for World Malaria Day.
Development Education Week in the Education Department NUI Maynooth is organised as part of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme (PGDE) and takes place each year on the last week of the first semester.
The third Biennial Conference of the Irish Forum for Global Health was held on 29 & 30 November 2010. The theme of the conference was "Partnerships to Address Health and Diseases of Poverty Challenges."
World AIDS day seminar held at NUI Maynooth draws together people from around the world to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the pandemic.
